Originating in the Riverland, Redmud Green Energy was initially created to repurpose parcels of unused land, allowing local landowners to receive a new source of income. Community acceptance quickly grew, and word of mouth spread amongst investors of accessibility to this new market, helping Redmud to grow into the company that it is today.

Redmud believes that the future of the energy grid is truly de-centralised; instead of building large and centralised ‘utility-scale’ solar farms, we construct smaller ‘sub-utility’ solar farms of up to 5MW placed closer to the source of energy consumption. Whilst utility-scale sites do enjoy some economies of scale when it comes to Capital costs, Australia’s complex grid and market rules have undermined investor certainty in returns from Utility Scale Projects; Redmud’s sub-utility sites remain largely unaffected by these issues.
